Motion-capture character superimposition
Rigged characters dropped onto real captured motion.
What it is
Using the LUMS biomechanics lab — at the time one of only two of its kind — we captured live subjects with infrared sensor arrays and high-speed cameras, superimposed rigged characters onto the resulting data points, and generated fully virtual backgrounds to produce a complete synthetic environment. We also streamlined the capture-to-render pipeline, which was most of the actual work. Applications run from games and film to medical and sports-science research.
