Taskeen platform contracts

One partner, four systems, four concurrent contracts.

The relationship

I led Taskeen’s engineering as an employee from 2020 to 2024. In 2025 my studio came back and won four concurrent contracts from them — WINGS, PEACE, Unity, and the WhatsApp chatbot. Four years inside an organisation, then four paid engagements from the outside, is the part of my record I would want to check if I were hiring me.

The systems

Unity is the largest of the four and has its own page. PEACE is a secure mental-health data platform — a web dashboard for administrators and an offline-capable mobile app for the field, with case files editable without a network and simultaneous edits resolved by timestamp merge. The WhatsApp chatbot is the helpline’s front door: a bilingual thread on Turn.io that gives the crisis number first, then takes an eleven-answer intake — including a self-harm risk screen — and hands a triaged record to a human coordinator. It is careful not to promise a booking it cannot keep.

Surfaces

  • The opening of the Taskeen Helpline thread: the same welcome in English and Urdu, two reply buttons for choosing a language, then a description of the free telephonic service, its Monday-to-Saturday hours and a helpline number for immediate support.
THE OPENING — BOTH LANGUAGES, THEN THE CRISIS LINE
  • The bot’s list menu open over the thread, offering six options: book an appointment, know about mental health, take a mental health test, learn about Taskeen, change language, and I don’t need anything.
SIX ROUTES · RECALLED BY TYPING “HELP”
  • The first half of the booking intake: whether the appointment is for the person or someone else, whether they have taken a session before, a request for their name, and a gender question offering male, female and other.
INTAKE — FOR WHOM, FIRST TIME OR RETURNING, NAME
  • The intake continuing: age, city, and a choice between being contacted on the same number or a different one, followed by a request for the concern in the person’s own words with an assurance of confidentiality.
AGE, CITY, CALLBACK NUMBER, THE CONCERN ITSELF
  • The risk screen inside the booking flow: a carefully prefaced question about thoughts of harming oneself or others in the last two weeks, answerable with yes, no or prefer not to say, followed by a prompt to choose a preferred time slot.
ONE QUESTION THAT IS NOT LOGISTICS
  • The end of the flow: a preferred-psychologist question offering male, female or no preference, then word that a helpline coordinator will be in touch, an explicit note that this does not confirm a session booking and that the slot depends on a cancellation, and a weekend closure notice directing anyone experiencing thoughts of self-harm to the nearest hospital.
WHAT IT PROMISES — AND WHAT IT DOES NOT
  • A reading path in the thread: a rich link card for the Taskeen chatbot at chatbot.taskeen.org with a one-line description, above the menu being recalled and a booking being started.
THE READING PATHS HAND OFF TO THE WEB
